Once a Local Authority has agreed to undertake an EHC needs assessment for a child /young person to determine whether an Education and Health Care (EHC) plan is required, the Local Authority must obtain specific information as part of the needs assessment process. This webinar provides clarity as to what information should be obtained, by whom and when that information should be gathered. This webinar further seeks to answer common questions raised by parents/carers/ young people about the process, such as whether private assessments should be considered by Local Authorities. It also looks at the statutory deadline that is in place by which the Local Authority must confirm whether an EHC Plan is to be issued. If the Local Authority decides not to issue an EHC Plan, it must give the reasons for its decision and notify parents or the young person of their right to appeal this decision to the SEND Tribunal. This webinar looks at the process of a refusal to issue appeal to the SEND Tribunal and provides top tips in being successful at such appeals.
