The first step to obtaining an Education and Health Care (EHC) plan is to request an EHC needs assessment. This webinar looks at the process of requesting an EHC needs assessment, looks to dispel myths that are commonly associated with requesting EHC needs assessments, and to provide information as to the legal test that should be applied by the Local Authority when it considers whether to undertake an EHC needs assessment. If the Local Authority decides not to conduct an EHC needs assessment, it must give the reasons for its decision and notify parents or the young person of their right to appeal this decision to the SEND Tribunal. This webinar will also provide top tips to consider when making a request for an EHC needs assessment and to provide information about the SEND Tribunal process should there be a decision to refuse to assess a child or young person.
