Join Tom Emmett, Head of Education, Birkett Long and Dr Nick Palmer, Consultant Education and Child Psychologist & Narrative Therapist and co-director of Palmer and Palmer Psychology Ltd, for a virtual open forum Q&A session on all things SEND.
With extensive experience as an educational and child psychologist, Nick has been instrumental in shaping the training of educational psychologists in the UK and specialises in supporting children and young people with special educational needs.
Nick is a trained expert witness working predominantly in the areas of special educational needs, educational negligence, and personal injury involving children and young people. He has also worked in family and clinical negligence litigation. He also has advanced training in the Mental Capacity Act (MCA), the Court of Protection (COP), and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) as they relate to children and young people (0-25).
Nick set-up and was Programme Director of the initial doctorate training for educational and child psychologists in the East of England. He was programme director until 2019 and has made contributions to similar programmes across the country, including Manchester, Exeter, East London, and Sheffield.
